The World According to Sound: Outside In
Saturday, July 18, 2020, 7 – 9 pm PST
The World According to Sound presents a sonic escape from the pandemic. It’s a live, communal, binaural listening event.
It’s time to get out. Together. The World According to Sound will transport you to a world before the pandemic in an international communal listening event. It’s an hour and a half of binaural, spatialized sound, all delivered straight to your headphones.
You’ll have dinner in a busy restaurant and go to a hockey game; visit a zoo, sand dunes in Oman, and a jungle in Panama; sit in on a university lecture, sing in a church choir, and listen to birds chirp, giraffes moan, and walruses whistle.
The show will be streamed live on July 18th at 7 PM Pacific/10 PM Eastern. Sign up for the show and you’ll be mailed an eye mask and miniature poster with instructions on how to join the show. Afterwards, creators Chris Hoff and Sam Harnett will join attendees for a live discussion about the show.
Tickets must be ordered by 5 PM Pacific on July 11th to receive a personal eye mask and miniature poster. If you order after that you can still attend the show, but you will have to fashion your own eye mask or be very diligent about keeping your eyes closed.
And for those of you who have terrible internet, like Sam’s parents, once the show starts, there will be an option to play an audio file designed for limited bandwidth.
